Application background
In automatic production, there often needs an on-line measurement of material thickness to void damaging the subsequent processing equipment. In other situations, we might need to measure the thickness to check whether it is meeting the standards.
Measurement scheme
Two sensors are installed on both sides of the work piece. Therefore, we can acquire two displacements to calculate the thickness.
The schematic is shown as follows. Through subtracting the measured data from the distance between two sensors, we can get the thickness of sheet material. This scheme can realize non-contact on-line measurement, which will never damage the surface and could improve the production efficiency.
